Abercrombie & Fitch takes the first step into South East Asia and second in Asia after its’ foray into Japan in 2009 by opening a store at one of the most prominent shopping districts in the Asia and Singapore’s most pulsating shopping district – Orchard Road.

Abercrombie & Fitch’s flagship store in Singapore commands a space of approximately 21,000 square feet that spans over three-storeys.

Abercrombie & Fitch promises to deliver the same ‘All-American’ experience – including the young, fun and good-looking store models and the same merchandise that is found at its any other flagship stores around the world, reflecting their brand’s heritage, youth and sex appeal with a unique emphasis on quality and store experience.

Today, December 15th 2011, marks its official opening of Flagshop store in Singapore. 10AM, its door swings open to some 500-beings and still counting..

Greeted by their signature American Boys at the door is definitely the start of an refreshing retail experience..

Stepping into the store, wink from the shirtless greeter melts every being into the store.

Its dim-lit environment creates the mysterious feel. The store is blasting groovy music and aromatized with its signature scent – FIERCE! What’s more, greeted with good-looking boys and girls at every corner of the store – “Hey, how is it going?”

The ground and basement levels are filled with wide selections for the boys while the second level is exclusive to the girls.

The store’s interior design is similar to that of its New York outlet – its walls are adorned with murals of topless men. A black statue of a naked men (said to be modeled after a real Abercrombie & Fitch model in the States) measuring some 2-metres high greets shoppers on the ground floor.

It is definitely an experience that one has never gotten from anywhere in Singapore.

I have been participating in this annual running event since 2005, started with Half-Marathon (21KM) and took up the courage to raise the bar to Full Marathon (42.195KM) in 2009.

This year, I have set myself a target to achieve – 5 HRS 45 MINS.

Second time running the new route – from Orchard Road through Chinatown, Central Business District (CBD), East Coast Park, Marina Bay Golf Course, Marina Barrage, Benjamin Shears’ Bridge to Padang.

Everything started well, adopted the run-walk-run strategy after the first 10KM. After the 22KM point, “bottle necks” and “herds of walkers” emerged which made the remaining distance a difficult one.

What made it even more challenging was the scorching sun upon arrival at the Marina Bay Golf Course. Excessive exposure of sun and heat, and dry distance without any Drinks Station.

Nothing beats the climax – when every lower limbs were experiencing fatigue, the steep slope up Benjamin Shears’ Bridge “WOW-ed” the race!

I would say, I was greatly disappointed with my results but nevertheless, I am proud of myself having to complete yet another 42.195KM.
