In-Camp Training II – Part III

Day XV

The beginning of Company Coastal Defence Exercise (CCDE) which lasts for FOUR (4) days THREE (3) nights. I can tell you, it takes a lot for us – Combat Medic – to fight the war especially in Full Battle Order (FBO). I was mainly being almost rotted to the ground by the weight from FBO.

We have arrived at Simpang for the exercise, and we started to deploy ourselves for our own “shelter” which we have to dig and create with our own bare hands. Everyone sweated and got dirty.

Day XVI

It rained for 4 hours, and guess what? Our shelters were all flooded and became pond, jacuzzi and swimming pool. Sigh. We had to spent time to scoop up the water with pails.

Day XVII

Again, it rained, and same thing happens. This time round, we gave up. Leave it as it is, and we’ve improvised something else to keep us dry. Tonight, the actual mission starts. I was being activated to treat and evacuate FOUR casualties from my platoon. It was hell tiring. Sigh. At least I get to be part of the mission. Well, not too bad.

Day XVIII

Last day of CCDE! We did our recovery of stores and stuffs before we managed to head back to camp in the evening. Whew! Finally! We didn’t manage to have our Last Parade until about 3AM. Gosh! We were all dead beat, but however, a gang of us had our last drinking session this ICT outside our bunks. Cheers!

Day XIX

Out-processing Day! Woohoo! However, some issues cropped up that we were held up till quite late. Sigh. On a brighter note, we’re back to our civillian life! See you brothers next year!

Day VIII

Witnessed fellows reporting to Clementi Camp as the Main-body in the morning. I was being tasked to station at the Guard-house for Security Check (for Image Capturing Devices). Afterwhich, the entire battalion gathered at the Multi-purpose Hall (MPH) for a Opening Address by our Commanding Officer (CO). Something different this year, a National Education excursion to Singapore Discovery Centre (SDC) was being planned in the afternoon. Pretty cool!

Day IX

We had a Technical Handling Test and First Aid Lesson in the morning. Realised I can still manage to strip and assemble the weapon in 10-seconds each. Cool! All thanks to my training during Basic Military Training (BMT) days at 3rd Battalion Singapore Infantry Regiment (3SIR). After lunch, we travelled to Nee Soon Camp for our Individual Marksmanship Training (IMT). It’s fun!

Day X

Combat Shoot at Nee Soon Camp. Something happened during the night shoot. Sigh. Somehow, I felt real bad and low morale after.

Day XI

Gosh! We had lectures the entire day at the Division Auditorium. We were battling hard with the ‘Z’-monster due to the comfortable seats and air-conditioned environment especially after a long day at the range the day before.

Day XII

Attended another round of IPPT in the morning. Guess what? I still didn’t manage to pass. Sigh. On a brighter note, I’ve improved my 2.4km run timing – 11:04 minutes – as compared to the previous 11:15 minutes.

Day XIII

We were supposed to load our stores for the up-coming Company Coastal Defence before we get to book-out for the weekend, however, a major “cock-up” arise. Ended up, we have been waiting since breakfast to late afternoon for instructions to load stores, and while waiting, we really had no idea how to spend the time, instead went to sleep. For the very first time, we had a dreadful time sleeping. Only till 5:15pm, instruction was given for us to get ready for the book-out. Sigh.

Day I

Reported to SAF Medical Training Institute (SMTI) for my TWO days NSmen Ops Refresher Training. It has been a great feeling to see familiar faces amongst my fellow Combat Medics in the same unit. Did a refresher on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in the morning followed by a super long lunch break before commencing our Intraveneous Infusion in the afternoon. I budd’ied with Donald, and we both successfully did one attempt each.

Day II

Back to SMTI. We had a lecture on Patient Assessment Model (PAM) in the morning, and a demonstration plus practise in the afternoon before we’re ready to head off to Clementi Camp. Upon arrival, we felt like home as in seeing familiar faces whom we did the first In-Camp Training (ICT) together last year. Soon, we commence our very own cohesion session at the Lion’s Den. Hehe.

Day III

Woke up early in the morning for our Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT). Stressed. As I didn’t really train much for it, expected, I didn’t manage to pass it due to my sudden change of grip for the Chin-Up. Sigh. Shall do my second attempt next week.

Day IV

It has been a pretty much free-and-easy day due to the short lecture held at the Medical Centre. However, fortunately, we get to have the Night’s Off.

Day V

Joined in with the commanders for a Company Defence Drill and demonstrations. Got us prepared the defence and also, to build our own defence / command post. Gosh! A FOUR days field-camp on the third week of our ICT. Sweat. Before we taste the bitter’ness, we get the sweet’ness the evening – Book Out!

Serving The Nation
| Author: BerdleyChoong™ | Posted: Sunday, 02:03 PM | Category: Blog 2007 |

Little Fabulo sits on a weird looking olive-green bag.

He looks puzzled.

“Where is my Master going?!”

I am going to serve the nation.

“Boo.. when and how long is it gonna be?”

Oh man! I will be away for THREE weeks starting this coming Monday.

Been pretty much busy preparing for it – shopping for items and working out for IPPT (Individual Physical Proficiency Test).

No worries. It is not going to be an ordeal, but I take it as a short holiday or even a physical training camp.

“Hmm.. you must be nuts!”

No, I am not. It is to get me back to my discipline in fitness regime. Hopefully I will bring myself up another level through the coming IPPT.

Some of my mates have been cracking their minds – how can we turn 13th to 31st? Haha.

“Can I serve the nation together too?”

Sure, different force though.

“Okie! Wait for me! I go and grab my helmet, field-pack and rifle now!”

| Author: BerdleyChoong™ | Posted: Friday, 04:18 PM | Category: Blog 2007 |

Officially, I have sent out my departure notice to all my Fitness First members.

It has been very hard for me to put it down for them, which I don’t know how to start with. However, I have to do it as they have already notice my absence for the past two weeks, and there is a need and my responsibility as their Membership Consultant to inform them of the situation. Sigh.

I’ve included a phrase for them: “Motivation evolves a FUN attitude towards Fitness.”

I shed tears when I receive their kind words:

When I walked up to you in Plaza Singapura, it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do and you put me at ease immediately. Thank you for understanding my fears. Good luck and best wishes in all you do. =)”

Gabriel Ong: “Bro, how come leaving? Wish you all the best in your future endeavours.”

Elizabeth Thin: “Take care & all the best!”

《不能說的·秘密》
| Author: BerdleyChoong™ | Posted: Thursday, 11:04 AM | Category: Blog 2007 |

Before anything.. Happy 42nd Birthday, Singapore! Whew wee!

It has been pretty much enriching for the past two days. I have learnt something new. Whew wee!

Met up with Aloysius to change for his Crumpler “The Famous Wine Bar” bag’s colour at Raffles City Shopping Centre.

Dinner at Ichiban Boshi (at The Esplanade Mall) with Kervin. Yum yum! It is still one of my favourite Japanese restaurant to indulge Oishi! bites.

After dinner, we walked to The Cathay to catch Jay Chou’s directorial debut that deals with the memory of first love – “SECRET” 《不能說的·秘密》.

-=-=-

This is the first day Lun is admitted to Tamkang Secondary School. When he walks around the campus, he meets Yu in the music room who is playing a mysterious piano solo. The two become intimate friends and spend a lot of time together. “What’s the melody you played the first day we met?” asked Lun. “That’s my secret.” Yu whispered in his ear.

One day, Lun asks Yu to meet him at the music room. But accidentally, they did not meet and Yu never shows up again. It seems that Yu has disappeared from this world.

Later, Lun gets a photo of Yu, but what surprises him is that Yu is standing next to his father, Chiu on the photo! The secrets behind Yu and the mysterious melody unleashing…

-=-=-

I simply love the story. It brings you laughters, excitement, and tears at the same time.

You have to catch it to know what I am saying. So, don’t miss it!

Kudos.

Bow Wow
| Author: BerdleyChoong™ | Posted: Monday, 08:08 AM | Category: Blog 2007 |

An early happy birthday, Aloysius!

Met him for an early birthday dinner yesterday as he’ll be going for a trip to Bangkok on the actual day. Good life.

Before that, a “mishap” happened.

Apparently, while having fun in the shower room (erm.. I mean, I was playing the music and dance), out of sudden, the water flow was being cut off. I was like “Oh Gosh!” Luckily 10 minutes later, the flow resumed and nobody knows what could be the cause. Hmm..

Went for Fabulous Sundays at Powerhouse after the dinner. It was pretty fun, and I love the way I look. Haha.

I find it very interesting to discover the truth of numerous aspects. How “ugly” some people are. At the same time, it’s rather disappointing. Sigh.

Well, all I can reflect about how I feel is..

“.. Love me or hate me, is that an obsession?
Love me or hate me, that is the question.
If you love me then Thank You.
If you hate me then Fuck You!”
