Spongebob On The Cliff | |
| | Author: BerdleyChoong™ | Posted: Sunday, 10:43 PM | Category: Blog 2008 | | ||
“Are you ready, kids?!” “SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!!” Apparently this little yellow freak knocked itself into my life recently.. Obsessed.. Mobile phone theme, ringing tones and now, toys! Look at the hand puppet, plush and board games of Spongebob Squarepants at Toys ‘R Us! I am re-living the life of a kid.. Playing with every single toys I see at the store.. Did I mention that people were looking at me whenever I did those? Oops! Dinner at The Mussel Guys (at Vivocity). Look at the yummy’licious Fruit & Shrimp Salad and Mussels Napolitana! I so love seafood! Hmm.. reminded me of Chilli Crab! I am gonna indulge in it one day soon! Caught “RED CLIFF” after.. “In 208 A.D., in the final days of the Han Dynasty, shrewd Prime Minster Cao Cao convinced the fickle Emperor Han the only way to unite all of China was to declare war on the kingdoms of Xu in the west and East Wu in the south. Thus began a military campaign of unprecedented scale, led by the Prime Minister, himself. Left with no other hope for survival, the kingdoms of Xu and East Wu formed an unlikely alliance. Numerous battles of strength and wit ensued, both on land and on water, eventually culminating in the battle of Red Cliff. During the battle, two thousand ships were burned, and the course of Chinese history was changed forever.” I would say, it is a fantastic strategic-themed movie, however the anti-climax was the ending with a message “To be continued.”

Money Suction Acts | |
| | Author: BerdleyChoong™ | Posted: Thursday, 08:35 PM | Category: Blog 2008 | | ||
Alright, I am not trying to start an opposition post or being non-patriotic here. Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) is an electronic system of road pricing based on a pay-as-you-use principle, and is designed to that motorists and drivers are charged when they use the road during peak hours. There used to be one gantry at each expressway and operated during peak hours, then the hours increased more towards Central Business District (CBD). Now, increased to SIXTY-NINE (69) gantries in town! What’s next? Continue to set up more gantries in the neighbourhood area too? Gosh! Driving on the AYE, was charged once. Exiting ECP towards City Hall, another charge. Turning in from Fort Canning Tunnel to Somerset Road, one more charge. A journey from Jurong to Orchard easily deducts about SIX (6) bucks from cashcard to government’s “pocket”. This is ridiculous! What do they do with the money? Spend setting up more gantries to “suck” more money from us? All the GST Rebates and Growth Dividends are bull-shit! They give some, they take back even more! Public transport charges increase. Taxi trip starts off with S$3.10 (S$2.40 before) and every 385-metres thereafter will be charged S$0.20 (S$0.10 per 250-metres before), plus Peak Period Premium 35% of metered fare ($2.00 flat rate before), and City Area Surcharge at S$3.00. Bus and MRT are following suit to increase rate for trips too! Is the government trying to tell us that we should remain as “villagers” or to walk by foot to all destinations? Even for energy, and water rates are increasing tremendously as well. Easily hit about S$400 average each month, back then at most S$120. Expenses are increased, but one thing stays stagnant – our income.

Dine At Mint Cafè | |
| | Author: BerdleyChoong™ | Posted: Saturday, 11:34 PM | Category: Blog 2008 | | ||
Dine in sophistication and style at Mint Cafè – Asia’s very first toy-themed cafè, which offers up a wide selection of international and local cuisine exquisitely prepared to meet everyone’s taste. Conveniently located at the heart of the city – 29 Seah Street. Walked through the stairway to the cafè with a feel of nostalgic and warm smiley greetings from the crew, so much so that I felt as though I am all ready to be pampered like a kid. Seated down at the dining area with Popeye-the-Sailorman cartoon screening through a projector and onto a huge wall near entrance.. Give me a can of spinach, please. *Grins* Other than Popeye, more characters can be seen – Batman, Pinochio, Tintin, Mighty Mouse, Mickey Mouse, etc.. Something which is pretty cool – they have seasonal featured characters, and now is Popeye that’s why most of the menus there are printed with his image! Cool! Even the pepper and salt shakers are so adorable – small and printed with “Mint Museum of Toys”. I know kids are not allowed to consume alcoholic beverages, but I very much feel like having the housepour FatTree 2004 Sauvignon Blanc, so I ordered. It’s very smooth. Soon the starter arrives – Oriental Wrap. Seafood includes scallops self-wrapped in lettuce, taste fresh, sweet and crisp. Nice! Here comes the main course – Tenderloin Steak. Tenderness mixed well with the red wine sauce. Another main – Seared Salmon Steak. Salmon was fresh and tasted sweet accompanied by the crab mash. Yum yum! What’s a dinner without an ending? Missisippi Mudpie soon served. Gosh! Pampered with the rich chocolate-y dessert, this kid can’t help but dirtied his mouth. Marvellous! I would definitely return for more!

You Don’t Mess With The Zohan | |
| | Author: BerdleyChoong™ | Posted: Saturday, 10:17 PM | Category: Blog 2008 | | ||
Finally, got into the theatre to catch the hilarious comedy – “YOU DON’T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN!” “Zohan, an Israeli anti terrorist commando who fakes his own death in order to pursue his dream: becoming a hairstylist in New York.” I simply hated myself after the movie, for not watching this much earlier! It is one damn great piece to indulge in, especially with all the hilarious moves and words. Adamn Sandler, you rock man! Oh yes, while you don’t mess with the Zohan, you don’t miss out the special appearance of Mariah Carey! Gosh!
